Our Work
Edge Structural Design provides civil and structural consultancy services, temporary works design, structural inspections and reports to a range of commercial and domestic clients.
Our consultancy work with a broad range of client is varied, making for great job satisfaction, professional experience, connections and personal development.
Examples of our commercial and industrial property work include providing services for large warehouses, retail and office sites, leisure centres and swimming pools, historic mill and church conversions, modular car parks, housing association projects, highways, groundworks and insurance claims.
We also assist with temporary works for construction sites, including working platforms for pilings rigs, site hoarding designs and temporary propping, and inspections and reports about urgent cases such as fire-damaged buildings.
Our residential projects include new-build contemporary apartments with underground car parks, major new housing developments and period property conversions.
We are also experts in providing solutions for challenging structures and locations, including sites with restricted access, uneven levels, ground stabilisation problems or underground challenges such as poor drainage, pollution, old foundations, culverts or utilities. We enjoy a challenge.
Who We Work With
We also like people. We enjoy working closely with architects and other construction professionals throughout the design and construction phases, using advanced 3D design and drafting software. This includes BIM (Building Information Modelling), the digital information and modelling process that allows professionals to jointly plan, design, construct and manage projects.

Edge Structural Design was founded in in 2000 by Adam Sedgwick. Our office in Oldham is located close to the M60 motorway and the Greater Manchester tram network. Also nearby is Manchester city centre and the Peak District National Park. Some of us live in the city while others choose the country.

Senior Technician
Career goals
Are you ready for your next career challenge? Want to play a key role in business development? We are looking for a high calibre experienced structural technician to help grow the business.
Experience
Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience within structural engineering, you will need to have experience within the construction industry.
Fully proficient with AutoCAD and Revit, working alongside engineers and liaising with other members of the design team. Capable of working under pressure with ability to work on multiple projects.
You should be able to work to tight timescales, can work under pressure with the ability to work on multiple projects, meet deadlines and budgets.
Skills
You must be highly motivated with good communication skills, have the ability to work well independently and within a team, are able to mentor others and check other work. You should have good technical skills and have experience using computer software such as Office 365, and BIM software ideally Revit.
Position Description
This is a permanent position for an experienced Senior Technician. The main duties will be to assist engineers to draw and detail cost effective structural engineering solutions from concept to construction. You should hold the experience to produce accurate, detailed drawings with limited assistance.

Senior Project Civil Engineer
Position Description
This is a permanent position for an experienced Senior Project Civil Engineer to work on a variety of projects in the residential, commercial, industrial, education and leisure sectors. The main duties will be to design and detail cost effective civil engineering solutions from concept to construction, liaise with other members of the design team and site construction staff. You should hold the experience to create and deliver cost effective fully compliant solutions.
Experience required
Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience within civil engineering, you will need to have experience in drainage design, highway design, 3D ground modelling and liaison with statutory undertakers. Fully proficient with MicroDrainage, PDS, AutoCAD and leading project designs. Capable of working under pressure with ability to work on multiple projects. You will be required to work alongside other members within the company and work as a team member.
