Client: Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council | Architect: GT Architects | Landscape Architects: Oobe | Contractor: Willmott Dixon Construction
Willmott Dixon Construction was appointed by Oldham Council to deliver a new £15m leisure facility in the town to replace the existing leisure centre. Edge Structural Design Ltd was appointed to assist with the civil engineering works.
Oldham Council wanted to ensure the approach to the new facility was as impressive as the building itself; Oobe Landscape Architects were appointed to create this vision. Their design required careful engineering and co-ordination including the design of highway retaining walls, embankments and foundations for the large pre-fabricated steel planters and inclined lighting.
The flagship leisure centre is a major focal point in the town, with the plaza and landscape enhancing the look and feel of the facility. Edge assisted Willmott Dixon in a critical stage of the project; our working relationship and prompt response helped the construction team to deliver the project on time. Our careful co-ordination with Oobe and Willmott Dixon ensured that the structural infrastructure accommodated the striking steel planter and inclined lighting columns.
